The University of Western Australia - Student Central

In 2013 the University of Western Australia engaged Ferguson Architects to undertake a planning exercise to amalgamate the offices of the International Center, Research Services and Student Administration within one student services precinct. The new precinct was to be located within a group of dated individual buildings in the center of the campus.

By creating a glazed link around all three buildings, the new Student Central connects three separate buildings to provide one unified and enhanced service to students. Each wing was designed to cater to the specific needs of the group it accommodated whilst allowing its occupants to spill on onto the common shared areas.

The precinct includes a hub with display space and soft furnishings to encourage informal interaction and networking, a group of student-use computer terminals and a number of special purpose spaces such as counselling and teaching rooms and occupational health and safety services.  Access to two courtyards serve as additional breakout spaces accommodating the large number of new students at the start of each semester.
