Department Of Parks And Wildlife Headquarters Bunbury
DPaW proposed headquarters in Bunbury is located in an environmentally sensitive site between the foreshore at Koombana Bay to the north and the mangroves immediately to the south. Additionally, the site being over the original coastline, contains several known shipwreck sites which have been surveyed and remain preserved underground.
Being a state government project, much emphasis has been placed on ensuring long lasting, low maintenance materials have been specified, including an aluminium roof and thermally modified timber soffits, Grade 1 recycled and new timber, along with specialist corrosion protection treatment for all steelwork.
Although the building development is currently ‘on hold’ pending review by the new government, Stage 1, which includes an outdoor education centre, is under construction.
